Pittsburgh Steelers Hire Mike Tomlin as New Head Coach

Mike Tomlin, the former defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, has become the new head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Vikings defense was ranked number three in the NFC this season. Oddly enough they were ranked number one against the run but dead last, number 16, against the pass.

Tomlin will become the Steelers first black head coach in the franchises 74-year history. He will take over for Bill Cowher who stepped down after finishing the season 8-8 the year after a Super Bowl victory.

The Steelers are expected to pay Tomlin close to $2.5 million a year during his four-year contact.
