Patrick Swayze, Star of “Dirty Dancing,” “Ghost,” Dies at 57

Patrick Swayze, the Hollywood star whose film credits included the blockbusters “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost,” has died after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze was 57-years-old.

Swayze had been diagnosed with advanced stage four pancreatic cancer in January of last year and had a very public battle with the illness. His publicist, Annett Wolf, released a statement confirming the actor’s death, “Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months.”

Swayze remained active despite his illness, continuing his work on the television show, The Beast, and had made several public appearances. His health began to deteriorate over the past few months and rumors that his death was imminent quickly surfaced.
