The Indianapolis Colts will square off against the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI on Feb.4 in Miami but before they play, Grammy-Award winning artist Billy Joel will sing the National Anthem.
Joel becomes the first artist to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl twice. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also performed in 1989 during the Super Bowl XXIII pregame.
The ‘piano man” has sold over 100 million records world-wide, recorded 33 Top 40 hits since signing his first solo contract in 1971, and won six Grammy Awards. He hit #1 on the U.S. Pop Charts in 1983 with “Tell Her About It” and again in 1989 with “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” Other hits include “Piano Man,” “Just the Way You Are,” “My Life,” “Uptown Girl,” and “The River of Dreams.”
Among past National Anthem performers at the Super Bowl are Diana Ross, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Jewel, and Beyonce.
