Brooke Burke-Charvet has put her cancer scare behind her. The Dancing with the Stars host successfully underwent a thyroidectomy to remove a cancerous nodule on Wednesday. Burke-Charvet is now concentrating on a quick recovery.
"I'm resting, recovering," she Tweeted today. "Surgery went well. Dr Adashek is a genius. Thx Dr! Feels like I got hit [by] a car :("
"Thank God it's over," added the 41-year-old mother of four. "I'm clean, surgery went well & I can talk. Losing My voice was my biggest fear. Thx for all your prayers & light."
Burke-Charvet will keep fans updates on her recovery in videos for ModernMom. She first revealed her cancer diagnosis on ModernMom’s Youtube channel last month. "You never think some tiny nodule ... I never ever, ever thought I was going to get that phone call with bad news,” she said.
"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck," she explained. "I don't get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it's going to be pretty much dead center. I don't want anybody to read about it and get the wrong idea, or think that I'm sick, because I'm not."
"I'm going to be fine. And I feel really really strong. Doctors say this is a good kind of cancer to have. Good cancer! That sounds so crazy. But my doctor did tell me this is a happily-ever-after ending kind of thing. I'm going fight through this,” Burke-Charvet added.
