Close-Up Talk Radio Spotlights Professional Organizer & Author Moreen Torpy
Have you ever looked at your house and seen objects or possessions that you may not truly need? Does entertaining company seem like an impossible dream because of the appearance of such material build-up? Many of us go through periods where we lose track of what we need and don’t need. For some, it can be a daunting and overwhelming experience when trying to organize, clean up, or let go of useless possessions. Professional Organizer Moreen Torpy is here to help.
Even in youth, Moreen felt she had a knack for organizing but it wasn’t until adulthood where her skills would be challenged. Like many, Moreen faced the task of having to empty her mother’s house who had become ill.
“It was emotional and overwhelming. Sometimes you don’t know where to begin. It was about coming to grips with the reality of the situation. It was from this experience that I decided that I needed to learn more about organizing,” says Moreen.
Moreen took this personal challenge and turned it into professional conquest as she embarked on earning certifications in Chronic Disorganization from Institute for Challenging Disorganization. In her studies, Moreen learned how to identify and work with the many types of personal characteristics that are involved with the chronically disorganized.
In 2004, Moreen founded De-Clutter Coach and became a member of the Professional Organizers in Canada. Her experience and educational background have given her great insight into how to help people overcome organizational obstacles, which frequently lie in the human psyche. From personal space to business areas, large to small projects, there’s nothing that Moreen can’t assist her clients with organizing.
“It begins with the intake interview. Here, I find out what I am working with—the person, their organizing needs, and whether or not this person is open to letting go. Sentiment can be contagious,” says Moreen. “Often, people call me when they reach the stage of being overwhelmed to point where they don’t know what to do anymore. What I offer is a better quality of life through organization.”
About 5 years ago, Moreen put her work to the page, in writing the first of four books she has completed. Her works include Let’s Get Organized: 172 Tiplets to Simplify Life, Ultimate Moving Guide, Christmas Workbook, and her latest Going Forward: Downsizing, Moving and Settling In.
Released in February 2012, Going Forward has received fantastic reviews and is available in hardcopy and digitally through Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and Balboa Press. Each of her books offers tips and insight into how to downsize, organize, and enrich your experiences.
