After 10 years together, Amar'e Stoudemire and Alexis Welch have made their union official. The couple tied the knot in New York City on Wednesday in very intimate ceremony at sunset. The wedding was held on the rooftop of the couple’s Greenwich Village apartment.
None of the Stoudemire’s New York Knicks teammates attended. In fact, sources say there were “less than 7” guests present for the nuptials.
“Less than seven other people were there, no Knicks teammates,” an insider told The New York Post.
The couple’s three children – Amar’e Jr., Ar’e and Assata – attended along with a few family members.
"They decided to do this because of the date, and they wanted to do something spiritual and private for themselves," another source told the New York Daily News.
"12.12.12 now has a special & spiritual meaning for us," Stoudemire Tweeted Wednesday.
The Stoudemires plan to hold a large wedding next year for friends and Knicks players to attend.
Stoudemire popped the question with an 8 1/2-carat Afshar diamond ring in June while visiting Paris.
