Kate Middleton Helps David Beckham Present BBC Sports Awards

Kate Middleton’s recovery from acute morning sickness appears to be going well – the pregnant royal made her first official post-pregnancy announcement appearance on Sunday at BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Awards in London. The Duchess of Cambridge helped David Beckham present Lifetime Achievement awards to Lord Seb Coe, Jessica Ennis and Bradley Wiggins.

As always, Middleton appeared stylish in a dark green Alexander McQueen gown.  The long, low cut dress showed off her still slim figure. Middleton was not accompanied by Prince William, who had to return to work.

Before Middleton’s appearance at the Sports Personality of the Year Awards, a spokesperson for St. James's Palace confirmed she would attend the event “in response to a longstanding invitation from the BBC.”

An insider told Us Weekly magazine the decision to keep the engagement “wasn't made until the very last minute.” "She doesn't feel well enough to carry out a lengthy engagement but was determined to pay tribute to [Team GB sportsmen and women],” added the source.

Middleton’s pregnancy was announced on December 3 after she was hospitalized for acute morning sickness. She spent three nights in the hospital before returning to Kensington Palace to rest. On December 8, Prince William spoke about his wife’s condition at an event. "I don't know why they call it morning sickness -- they should call it all day and all night sickness,” he said.
