Kissing is Acceptable While Dating According To ChristiaNet Poll

Free online dating, Christian singles, penpals, chat rooms and social networking are some of the Christian dating related articles at http://www.christianet.com/christiandating/.

ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, asked its readers to respond to a recent poll on kissing while dating. Many of the participants agreed that it is acceptable but it should be disciplined. Christian dating should be governed by what God's word says about behavior. The couple should discuss guidelines early on in the relationship and make a commitment to not cross those boundaries. One of the participants said, "One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self-control." It is important to realize that your body is not your own. It is God's temple and should be treated accordingly.  (http://www.christianet.com/christiandating/)

Out of 271 respondents, 134 answered yes, that kissing is acceptable while dating. Seventy-one voted no, and 66 were unsure. Many of the respondents who felt that it was not acceptable made a point that it is a temptation and can lead to sin. One participant stated, "The Word of God says we should not make any provision for the flesh." Christian dating behavior should include decent and proper behavior. The world is watching and many could be won just by the Godly example of living a life honoring Him.

Comments of voters who were unsure felt that the commitment of the relationship should help to define whether kissing is acceptable behavior during Christian dating. However, many of the participants also emphasized the importance of not allowing the affection to get out of hand. The couple needs to be honest with each other and if they do not agree then they need to take time out and pray about whether they are right for each other.

Many people in our culture today have become desensitized to what is right and wrong. This has come about because of the shows we watch on television and what we witness others doing. A child of God must base their actions on what scripture says and not what society says. This is challenging in our world today but the Holy Spirit will give us the strength to not give in to the temptation if we are sincere about doing what is right. One respondent summed this up very nicely by saying, "Obedience and compliance to God's Word means everything."  For more information, visit: http://www.christianet.com/articles/
