With the identity of the 27-year-old woman who emerged from Cambodia’s jungles less than two weeks ago still in question, a Spanish psychologist has visited the “jungle woman” and the family she is now staying with.
Sal Lou, a policeman in northeastern Cambodia, has claimed that the woman is his daughter Rochom P'ngieng, who disappeared in 1988.
Hector Rifa has said that his main priority while visiting the woman was to ensure her needs were being met. Many are hoping that Rifa will be able to determine if the woman is, in fact, Lou’s long-lost daughter.
For Lou and his family there is little doubt over the woman’s identity. The evidence for them is displayed by a scar on her right arm. P’ngieng had an identical scar on her right arm as a result of an accident before she disappeared.
Lou has said he is willing to undergo DNA testing to prove the girl’s lineage.
