Raymond Clark was arrested for the murder of Yale
University graduate student Annie Le Thursday morning. Officers in about 10
police cars surrounded a Super 8 Motel in Cromwell, Connecticut and took Clark,
24, into custody. His bond is set at $3 million.
Clark, who worked in the same Yale medical research
building as Le, was first named a “person of interest” in her murder earlier
this week. He was taken into custody Tuesday for authorities to collect DNA
samples and collect evidence from the home he shares with his fiancé, Jennifer
Hromadka.
Le, 24, went missing September 8 and her body was found
stuffed behind a wall in the basement of the research building on Sunday, the
day she was to be married to fiancé Jonathan Widawsky. Police said only someone
very familiar with the basement would have known about the space where Le’s
body was found. Clark, who failed an FBI lie detector test and had scratches on
his chest, cleaned cages for lab mice and worked in the basement.
On Wednesday, the Connecticut coroner’s office released
Le’s autopsy report, which determined she died of traumatic asphyxiation.
Traumatic asphyxiation is severe compression of the thorax.
