Eye on Entertainment on Time Warner Cable Covers 2009 Primetime EMMY Awards Red Carpet Roll Out

The 2009 Primetime EMMY Awards telecast will be broadcast live on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 20, 2009

Dawna Lee Heising and John Alsedek of Eye on Entertainment on Time Warner Cable covered the Red Carpet Roll Out for the 2009 Primetime EMMY Awards at the NOKIA Theatre on September 16, 2009.  Primetime Emmy nominees Simon Baker, Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, Kiefer Sutherland and Chandra Wilson along with Dana Delany, Jimmy Fallon, Alyson Hannigan, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Stephen Moyer and Jason Segel are the first group of presenters that have been announced by the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. The 2009 Primetime EMMY Awards telecast will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 20 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS. 

 

Present at the 2009 Red Carpet Roll Out were John Shaffner, the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences, and Don Mischner, the 2009 Executive Producer of the Primetime EMMY Awards show.  John Shaffner and his partner Joe Stewart are among the most recognized production designers in television. Together they have received three Primetime Emmy® Awards for David Copperfield specials, one for The George Lopez Show; two Daytime Emmy® Awards for The Ellen DeGeneres Show; and one Los Angeles Area Emmy® Award. Their designs for the 2006 Primetime Emmy® Awards were recognized with the Art Directors Guild Award. They have been nominated a total of 29 times for Primetime and Daytime Emmys, and have received numerous Art Directors Guild and Cable Ace nominations.

 

Shaffner and Stewart designed the series Two and a Half Men, Friends, The Drew Carey Show and Dharma and Greg, among many others. They have designed specials for numerous artists, from Perry Como and Andy Williams to Celine Dion and Willie Nelson. Along with designing four Primetime Emmy® and four Daytime Emmy® Awards, they design the American Music Awards, the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and the Miss Universe Shows as well.  Shaffner has been recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Montana, where he earned a B.F.A., and is the recipient of the university’s School of Fine Arts Odyssey Award. He has also been recognized with the Alumni Merit Award from Carnegie Mellon University, where he received an M.F.A.

 

Don Mischer is an internationally recognized producer and director of television and live events who has been honored with thirteen Primetime Emmy Awards, a record nine Directors Guild of America Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, two NAACP Image Awards, a Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting, and Europe’s prestigious Golden Rose of Montreux.  Don’s producer/director credits range from: the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games, the Kennedy Center Honors, PBS Dance in America, and the 100th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall, to Motown 25, the Presidential Inaugural Gala, Barbra Streisand’s Millennium Concert in Las Vegas, and Super Bowl Halftime Shows starring Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, and Prince.

 

Don has produced specials with Robin Williams, Cher, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Whoopi Goldberg, Willie Nelson, Michael Jackson, Glenn Close, Garry Shandling, Stevie Wonder, Goldie Hawn, Frank Sinatra and Gregory Hines, among others. Mischer attended Texas Lutheran University and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
