After one year, the Workamper News Community web site, http://community.workamper.com hit 3,000 users. Workampers - newbies or long time full-timers - use the site to share their interests, photos, and other info, and communicate with other Workampers via private messages. The Community site began in July 2007, and has only seen the number of users increase since then.
"The Community site was created to provide a facility for existing Workampers to get to know others living their RVing lifestyle without having to actually be their neighbors in a campground," said David Baker, programmer for Workamper News. "Newbies to Workamping can learn from those who have been full-timing for years, and others who have left the Workamping lifestyle can keep in touch with the friends they made along the way."
Baker is the creator of the Community site, and has been a full-time Workamper for five years. "We have given Workampers a place to center all of their communication with other Workampers. They can upload photos of their families, pets, RV, work locations, scenery, etc. They can also create entries in a blog, make friends with other Workampers in the Community, and send messages," said Baker. Workamper News has found that being able to communicate easily with other Workampers is a big advantage when looking for the next great Workamping position.
