Police are describing Yale University student Annie Le’s
murder as “workplace violence” but have not elaborated on the case. Authorities
believe Le was strangled to death by lab technician Raymond Clark, who was
arrested for her murder early this morning.
Clark and Le worked in the same Yale medical research
building. Clark cleaned the cages of lab rats that Le used in her work.
Le, 24, went missing September 8 and her body was found
stuffed behind a wall in the building’s basement on Sunday, the day she was to
be married to her fiancé Jonathan Widawsky.
Clark, 24, was taken into custody Tuesday morning in
order for police to collect DNA samples and evidence from the home he shared
with his fiancé, Jennifer Hromadka. He was released and spent the night in a
Super 8 motel before his arrest this morning. His bond is set at $3 million.
Le’s autopsy report showed she died of traumatic
asphyxiation, which is severe compression of the thorax.
Police refused to release any more details on the case.
