Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb remains hopeful that he will be able to start in Sunday’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints, one week after fracturing a rib in a road win over the Carolina Panthers.
McNabb has not practiced since last week’s game but is said to be improving and may be able to take snaps by Sunday.
The Eagles took precautions in the event McNabb can’t play, signing Jeff Garcia on Tuesday as a backup. If McNabb can’t go the Eagles will put Kevin Kolb under center, it would be his first NFL start.
