Bomb Blast in Afghan Capital Kills Six Italian Soldiers, Ten Civilians

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive in Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul has killed six Italian soldiers and ten civilians while leaving several more injured.

 

According to reports a suicide car bomb struck a pair of military vehicles in a heavy populated area near the city’s airport. Witnesses said the bomber, said to be a member of the Taliban, rammed his vehicle into the Italian military convoy, igniting a large explosion and shaking nearby buildings.

 

Shortly after the blast Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi told reporters, “We are all convinced that we have to get out of Afghanistan as soon as possible.” Berlusconi did back aay from that comment though as he quickly stated, “This is something that we cannot decide alone, because otherwise we would affect the confidence of other countries present there.”
