Australian Open: Serena Williams Advances to Finals After Beating Nicole Vaidisova in Straight Sets
Serena Williams took another step towards capturing her eight Grand Slam title after beating Nicol Vaidisova 7-6, 6-4 in the women’s semifinals at the Australian Open.
Williams was able to win the first set in a tie-breaker before holding on in the second set to earn her trip to the finals.
The unranked Williams will now face the winner of the other semifinals match between Maria Sharapova and Kim Clijstrs.
