Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning brushed off questions yesterday regarding the status of his injured thumb on his throwing hand. Telling a group of reporters that he “attended the Bill Belichick school of discussing injuries,” Manning seemed to make light of the severity.
The injury to his thumb came in last week’s victory over the New England Patriots when Manning’s throwing hand hit the helmet of Tarik Glenn. On Monday Manning had X-rays taken of his hand which proved to be negative.
Manning and the Colts have remained adamant that he would be ready to play come Feb. 4, against the Chicago Bears.
To date, Manning has never missed a start, his 156 consecutive games including playoffs is second among NFL quarterbacks, Brett Favre has played in 257 straight including playoffs.
The Indianapolis Colts will be facing the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI in Miami on Feb. 4.
