Evan
Royster collected 136 yards on the ground and a touchdown on 20 carries, Daryll
Clark was 16/26 passing for 167 yards and a pair of TDs and the Penn State
Nittany Lions (3-0) defense limited the Temple Owls (0-2) offense to just 251
yards in a 31-6 victory on Saturday.
Clark
got things started for the Nittany Lions in the first quarter with a one-yard
touchdown toss to Mickey Shuler for a 7-0 lead but the Owls managed to get on the
board at the end of the frame when Brandon McManus kicked a 25 yard field goal
to cut Temple’s deficit to 7-3.
Penn
State’s offense took over in the second quarter though as Royster scored on a
7-yard touchdown run and then five minutes later Clark found Derek Moye on a
4-yard TD pass and the Nittany Lions led 21-3 at halftime.
McManus
capped Temple’s opening drive of the third quarter with a 35-yard field goal to
get the Owls to within 21-6 but Collin Wagner answered for Penn State when he
was good from 27-yards out. The Nittany Lions put the game away early in the fourth
quarter when Stephfon Green pounded one in from three yards out.
