College Football Scores: #25 Michigan Wolverines Shake Off Eastern Michigan, Carlos Brown Puts Up Huge Numbers

Carlos Brown rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries, Denard Robinson added 60 yards rushing and two TDs on just three carries and the Michigan Wolverines (3-0) avoided a letdown after last week’s upset over Notre Dame, using a second half surge to overwhelm the Eastern Michigan Eagles (0-3) 45-17 on Saturday.

Michigan put the first points on the board after Jason Olesnavage’s 37-yard field goal split the uprights but Eastern Michigan answered with a 43-yard field goal from Joe Carithers to even the score at 3-3. The Wolverines pushed in front 10-3 after Brown scored from 9-yards out but the Eagles answered once again as Andy Schmitt found the endzone from 11-yards out and the score was tied once again.

The Wolverines responded to the Eagles touchdown with one of their own as Michael Shaw ran one in from 5-yarsd out and then Brown gave Michigan some breathing room when he busted a 90-yard touchdown run for a 24-10 advantage. Eastern Michigan wouldn’t go away though and Dwayne Priest had his team within 24-17 at halftime after scoring on a 5-yard run.

After allowing the Eagles to hang around for more than two quarters the Wolverines ground attack finally wore Eastern Michigan’s defense down late in the third quarter. That became apparent when Martavious Odoms scored on a 13-yard touchdown run and less than two minutes later Robinson scored on his own 13-yard run and Michigan was in firm control with a 38-17 lead. Robinson would finish off the scoring for Michigan in the fourth quarter when he found the endzone from 36-yards out to ice the game.
