Brett Favre was 23/27 passing for 155 yards and two touchdowns, Adrian Peterson collected 92 yards rushing and a TD on 15 carries and the Minnesota Vikings (2-0) defense picked off Detroit Lions (0-2) quarterback twice in a 27-13 win on Sunday.
Detroit put the first points of the game on the board when Jason Hanson kicked a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter and it looked like the Lions were rolling when Stafford found Calvin Johnson on an 8-yard touchdown pass in the second for a 10-0 lead. Minnesota finally found the endzone with just over a minute left in the half as Favre hit Visanthe Shiancoe on a one-yard toss and the Vikings cut their deficit to 10-7 at the break.
The second half was all Minnesota as Ryan Longwell evened the game at 10-10 with a 26-yard field goal and then Adrian Peterson put the Vikings in front 17-10 when he scored on a 27-yard touchdown run. Longwell then gave the Vikings a ten-point cushion early in the fourth with a 46-yard field goal. Favre iced the game with just under six minutes left when he found Percy Harvin on a 3-yard toss for the 27-10 advantage.
