The Classic Center Brings Outlaw Legend Merle Haggard to Athens in February
Merle Haggard is synonymous with the term “country music”. As one of the originators of the Outlaw brand of country music, Haggard, along with with peers like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson, among others, changed the American songwriting landscape. Revered as arguably the most influential country musician, with the exception of Williams, Haggard has had thirty-eight #1 songs and received virtually every award and national distinction afforded an American country musician.
