AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Scores Jan. 25
Oregon Ducks shocked; Duke Blue Devils and Butler Bulldogs survive; UCLA Bruins cruise.
Arron Afflalo scored 25 points and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute grabbed 11 rebounds as the #3 UCLA Bruins (18-1) breezed past the California Golden Bears (12-8) 62-46. The Bruins shot 50 percent from the floor while limiting their PAC 10 rival to just 36 percent. California was led by Theo Robertson who scored 16 points.
Justin Dentmon scored 24 points and dished out 7 assists while Ryan Appleby added 16 points as the Washington Huskies (12-7) shocked the #7 Oregon Ducks (18-2) 89-77. Bryce Taylor led the Ducks with 19 points in the loss.
David McClure scored on a layup at the buzzer to lift the #10 Duke Blue Devils (17-3) past the #19 Clemson Tigers (18-3) in their ACC match-up. Josh McRoberts finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils and Greg Paulus added 13 points and 5 assists. Vernon Hamilton led the Tigers with 21 points.
The #14 Butler Bulldogs (18-2) narrowly escaped the Loyola-Illinois Ramblers (13-8), winning 70-66 in overtime. AJ Graves scored 26 points for the Bulldogs while Pete Campbell added 12 points in the win. The Ramblers out-rebounded Butler 46-32 but shot just 34 percent from the field
Ramon Sessions had 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead the #18 Nevada Wolf Pack (18-2) to an 84-67 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (6-13). Nick Fazekas scored 13 points and grabbed 7 boards for Nevada. Chad McKenzie led the Bulldogs with 19 points.
Robbie Cowgill had a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds as the #20 Washington State Cougars (17-3) beat the Oregon State Beavers (9-12) 70-55. Ivory Clark finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Cougars. Sasa Cuic led the Beavers with 17 points.
