“The Simpsons” and “24”, popular programs on the Rupert Murdoch run Fox networks, are at the center of a subpoena filed on Jan. 18.
The subpoena requests You Tube provide information that will identify the individual(s) who uploaded pirated episodes of the two shows. The highly anticipated season premier of “24” starring Keifer Sutherland was broadcast on YouTube before it made it to Fox.
According to the subpoena, a dozen episodes of the long running animated hit “The Simpsons” has also appeared on the video uploading site owned by Google Inc.
Fox requested YouTube remove the episodes in question.
Twentieth Century Fox filed the subpoena in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
