L.B. Foster Company has announced they received a contract to supply Gerdau Ameristeel sheet piling for use in the Panama Canal Expansion. The contract was given to L.B. Foster from the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) for $20.5 million. The piling will be used for the excavation of the Pacific Access Channel and the construction of the Borinquen Dam.

L.B. Foster will deliver the piling by rail and trucks to a U.S. port where they will be shipped to an Atlantic dock near Colon, Panama. The first delivery is scheduled to take place in October 2009. 3 more shipments should also take place and be completed by January 2010.
