Chicago Injury Lawyer Bridget Duignan Dissects Legal Issues in Monthly Column

Bridget Duignan, a Chicago injury attorney with Latherow Law Office, writes a monthly column for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin that analyzes legal and legislative issues facing the Windy City.

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin is a daily publication that covers legal news and developments in Chicago, including new laws, court dates, case summaries and major verdicts. Once a month, Bridget Duignan contributes a piece for a column titled “Women, Law & Politics.” Each piece examines an issue facing lawyers or legislators and distills the main points for an audience of legal enthusiasts. She also considers how various legal issues affect women on all sides of the law. One column examined House Bill 5823 and explained how it would affect insurance companies and insured victims if passed. Readers can find her column in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s print edition.

Jerry Latherow, founder of Latherow Law Office, said that Duignan’s column is a valuable resource for readers on all sides of the law.

“Bridget takes complicated subjects, finds the most important points and tells you exactly how the issue effects everyone involved,” Latherow said. “She brings her unique perspective and clear logic to very complex topics and explains them in a way everyone can understand.”

Latherow said her history as assistant counsel to House Speaker Michael J. Madigan, combined with her years of experience as a lawyer, gives her a unique and valuable insight into constantly shifting legal areas.

“There’s always so much going on in Springfield that has a ripple effect for law enforcement, lawyers and our clients,” Duignan said. “A lot of it gets lost in a bill’s language, so I try my best to explain how these developments affect people.”

Duignan was admitted to the Illinois bar and the Northern District of Illinois bar in 2004. She is a member of many professional memberships, including the Women’s Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. She sits on the Legislative and Lobbying Committees for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and she has been elected and re-elected to the Illinois State Bar Association. She focuses her practice on personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, construction accidents and car accidents.
