While much was made about a possible injury to the throwing hand of Brett Favre the Minnesota Vikings have said the quarterback merely bent his fingernail late in their game against the Detroit Lions and he would be fine for next week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Favre hurt his hand in the fourth quarter when he was hit while throwing a touchdown pass to Percy Harvin to put the Vikings up 27-10. It was obvious Favre was in some pain as he got up from the turf, shaking his hand several times before leaving for the sideline.
Despite the reaction head coach Brad Childress assured reporters Favre was fine, telling them, “He bent his fingernail. That hurts, too. For those of you who have fingernails, that hurts.”
