A bad car accident brought about a special announcement from season 8 American Idol winner Kris Allen. After being injured in a head-on collision on New Year’s Day, Allen revealed his wife Katy is pregnant with their first child.
“Thank you Ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family and the little one we have on the way safe,” he tweeted.
“Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I’m having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy,” Allen added.
A Ford car was part of Allen’s Idol prize in 2009.
Katy and the couple’s French bulldog Zorro were not injured in the accident. Allen, 27, sustained a broken wrist and is set to undergo surgery today. The injury is not expected to postpone the start of his “Out Alive” tour next week.
“Don't worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the #OutAliveTour is still on,” he tweeted.
