Dell announced that they are planning to acquire Perot Systems for $3.9 billion. Perot Systems provides technology services which include data center management, software and consulting. Dell is working on expanding their forte beyond its personal computer business.

Perot Systems was founded by Ross Perot in 1988. The terms of the deal had already been approved both company’s boards. Ross Perot Jr. is expected to join the Dell board. Combining the two businesses should results in about $8 billion in revenue from the service divisions.
