Arriving in Philadelphia for a 2-day trip, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are to begin their visit concerning youth development initiatives, urban renewal and environmental causes on Saturday.
This is the first visit to Philadelphia for the Princes of Wales who is expected to meet with students and attend a reception with community leaders on his first day.
Prince Charles will also visit areas of West Philadelphia where crime and poverty have rooted themselves for decades. The stop is intended to focus on initiatives for developing youth programs as well as revitalizing the community.
Saturday night the couple are expected to attend the Academy of Music’s 150th anniversary concert.
The pair will then travel to New York on Sunday where Prince Charles will receive an award from Harvard Medical School’s Center for Health and the Global Environment.
Prince Charles, along with his wife Camilla, last visited the United States in 2005. On that trip they made a trip to Ground Zero in New York and spent time in New Orleans witnessing the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
