The Bachelor returns to TV tonight with former Bachelorette contestant Sean Lowe hosting his first cocktail party of the season. In classic Bachelor style, Lowe will greet each of the ladies as they exit their limousines outside the Bachelor mansion in Los Angeles. Instead of the usual 25 contestants, Lowe will start with 26 – the final contestant’s identity will be revealed on tonight’s premiere.
Lowe, who first appeared on Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette, decided to break Bachelor tradition when it came to handing out roses. Usually the Bachelor or Bachelorette is given one “first impression rose” to hand out before the rose ceremony, but Lowe decided to give a rose to anyone whom he instantly felt a connection with. In all, 12 women go into the first rose ceremony safe from elimination. Lowe will give out 7 additional roses and will send 7 women packing, bringing the total of women moving on to the first dates to 19.
Bachelor host Chris Harrison has described Lowe, 28, as "the most sincere bachelor we have ever had.” "Sean is a diamond in the rough. If you put a star and a cape on this guy, he is Captain America, with better abs. And yes, he will have his shirt off a lot,” Harrison says of the Dallas native.
Season 17 of The Bachelor premieres tonight on ABC at 8 pm.
