Dr. Cortese will join the board on January 1, 2010 subsequent to his retirement from Mayo Clinic. Dr. Cortese is the president and chief executive officer of Mayo Clinic. Dr. Cortese has been CEO of Mayo since 2003 and is expecting to retire in November.

Dr. Cortese graduated from Temple University Medical School in 1970. Dr. Cortese completed his internal medicine residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. In the U.S. Navy’s Medical Corps he served as a Lieutenant Commander.
