Wisconsin continues to roll; UCLA, Clemson, and LSU upset
Alando Tucker scored 27 points while Brian Butch added 13 points and 14 rebounds as the #2 Wisconsin Badgers (21-1) beat the Iowa Hawkeyes (11-10) 57-46. The win was the Badgers 17th straight. Adam Haluska led the Hawkeyes with 16 points but Iowa shot just 28 percent from the field.
Lawrence Hill scored 22 points and Anthony Goods added 20 of his own to give the Stanford Cardinals (14-5) a 75-68 upset victory over the #3 UCLA Bruins (18-2). Stanford had to overcome a 12 point halftime deficit to win but shooting 50 percent from beyond the three-point line made it possible. Arron Afflalo led the Bruins with 22 points in the loss.
Josh McRoberts scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the #10 Duke Blue Devils (18-3) beat the Boston College Eagles (14-6) 75-61 in their ACC match-up. DeMarcus Nelson added 17 points and 8 rebounds while Lance Thomas finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Duke out-rebounded Boston College 41-29.
Dominic James scored 16 points and handed out 6 assists and Wesley Matthews finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds as the #15 Marquette Golden Eagles (19-4) avoided an upset bid by the South Florida Bulls (11-11) 70-68. Marquette shot 42 percent from beyond the three-point line while shooting just 38 percent from the floor overall.
The Virginia Cavaliers (13-6) overcame a 16 point deficit to shock the #19 Clemson Tigers (18-4) 64-63. J.R. Reynolds scored 18 points for the Cavaliers and Sean Singletary added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the win. James Mays had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss.
Levi Stukes hit a three-pointer late in the game to lift the Georgia Bulldogs (13-6) past the #21 LSU Tigers (13-7) 57-54. Stukes finished with 16 points while Takais Brown had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the upset. Glen Davis finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
Zabian Dowdell scored 23 points and handed out 8 assists and AD Vassallo finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the #24 Virginia Tech Hokies (16-5) beat the Georgis Tech Yellow Jackets (13-7) 73-65. The Hokies shot 59 percent from the field while the Jacket converted just 36 percent from the field.
