Helicos BioSciences Corporation (Nasdaq: HLCS) $2.43. Today announced the publication of a landmark study in which Helicos’ True Single Molecule Sequencing (tSMS) technology was used to directly sequence individual molecules of RNA. The paper appeared yesterday in the on-line edition of Nature and will appear in an upcoming 2009 print issue of Nature.
The study consists of the accurate sequencing and quantitation of RNA molecules obtained directly from a biological sample without amplification, ligation or cDNA synthesis.

Sullivan, Ph.D., Vical's Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is presenting data at the IIRUSA Vaccines Development Forum demonstrating the adjuvant's ability to enhance immune responses of cancer antigen-based vaccines in addition to a broad variety of DNA- and protein-based vaccines against infectious diseases.
Results from a mouse study demonstrated an 88-fold increase in antigen-specific CD8+ T-cell responses at low doses and a 45-fold increase at high doses with a Vaxfectin(R)-formulated peptide-based cancer vaccine compared with unformulated vaccine.

Today announced that it has received a new $2.1 million order for its precision fiber optic gyros (FOGs) for use in remote stabilized weapon stations (RWS) from a major defense contractor. Shipment of KVH FOGs for this order is expected to be completed in early 2010.
