College Football News: Matt Barkley to Start at QB for USC Trojans on Saturday

After missing last week’s loss at Washington due to an injured shoulder USC freshman quarterback Matt Barkley has been given the green light to return and will start on Saturday when the Trojans face the Washington State Cougars.

USC’s coach Pete Carroll made the announcement following practice on Wednesday evening, reportedly saying “He's going to give us the best chance to win right now.”

The Trojans offense struggled with Aaron Corp filling in for Barkley last week, putting up just 13 points in their stunning loss.

Barkley has started in both of USC’s wins in the 2009 season, a 56-3 rout of San Jose State and an 18-15 win over Ohio State.
