The NO/Oklahoma City Hornets (19-25) had six of their eight players score in double figures as they beat the Portland Trail Blazers (19-27) 103-91. David West scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds while Tyson Chandler finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds in the win. Zach Randolph led the Trail Blazers with 20 points and 13 boards.
Kevin Garnett scored 44 points and 11 rebounds while Ricky Davis scored 17 points and handed out 8 assists as the Minnesota Timberwolves (22-22) beat the visiting Phoenix Suns (36-9) 121-112. The loss snapped the Suns 17-game winning streak. Minnesota shot 59 percent from the floor. Steve Nash finished with 20 points and 18 assists.
Pau Gasol scored 34 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Lawrence Roberts pulled down 14 boards as the Memphis Grizzlies (12-34) beat the Sacramento Kings (17-26) 124-117. Mike Miller scored 27 points while Chucky Atkins added 22 in the win. Memphis out-rebounded Sacramento 47-25. Mike Bibby led the Kings with 23 points.
The Houston Rockets (28-16) led by 38 points heading into the fourth quarter and cruised past the Philadelphia 76ers (14-32) 105-84. Tracy McGrady scored 25 points and Juwan Howard added 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the pounding. Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with 19 points.
Gerald Wallace scored 25 points and had 13 rebounds and Emeka Okafor had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Charlotte Bobcats (16-28) beat the Denver Nuggets (22-20) 105-101 on the road. Raymond Felton added 16 points and 11 assists for the Bobcats. Denver has lost three in a row. Allen Iverson led the Nuggets with 31 points.
Vince Carter hit a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to give the New Jersey Nets (22-23) a 116-115 road win over the Utah Jazz (29-17). Carter finished with 33 points while Jason Kidd added 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Jazz out-rebounded the Nets 44-21 in the game but couldn’t find an answer to Carter.
