Petr Prucha scored two goals and Jed Ortmeyer totaled three assists as the NY Rangers (25-21-4) easily handled the Boston Bruins (22-22-4) 6-1. The Rangers scored two goals in each of the three periods while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29 shots in the win. Matt Cullen added a goal and two assists for the Rangers who scored five unanswered goals after the Bruins tied the score 1-1 in the first.
The Montreal Canadiens (28-18-5) scored three goals in the second period to overcome a 1-0 deficit and beat the Ottawa Senators (29-21-2) 3-1. Sheldon Souray evened the scoring at 1-1 on a power play goal and Mark Streit added the go-ahead goal just over a minute later. Tomas Plekanec then scored a shorthanded goal for the Canadiens to make it 3-1. All three goals came within 2 ½ minutes. David Aebischer stopped 26 shots mining the net for Montreal.
