Jessica Simpson Sitcom In The Works

2013 is shaping up to be a big year for Jessica Simpson. In addition to welcoming her second child with Eric Johnson and celebrating the first birthday of daughter Maxwell, Simpson is also teaming up with NBC and Fashion Star producer Electus to make a TV show based on her life. A pilot is currently in the works.

“We are thrilled to team up with the multitalented Jessica Simpson to bring this new sitcom to life on NBC as she is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops. From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica's character approach a variety of 'everyday' circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud,” Electus founder Ben Silverman said in a statement.

Simpson, 32, said she is “so excited” to work with Silverman and NBC. “I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life, so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing,” she added.

This is not the first time Simpson has attempted to land a sitcom role. In 2004 she filmed a pilot for a sitcom about a pop star-turned-new anchor. ABC did not pick up the show. From 2003 to 2005 Simpson and then-husband Nick Lachey starred on their own MTV reality show called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.
