Mitrice Richardson Goes Missing Following Release From Jail

A California woman disappeared following her released from jail on September 17. Mitrice Richardson, 24, was arrested around 10 p.m. September 16 when she was drunk and unable to pay her bill at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu.

Authorities searched her car and found marijuana. Richardson’s car was impounded and she was taken to the Malibu Lost Hills police station, where she was booked for not paying her restaurant tab and possession of marijuana.

Richardson was released around 1:25 a.m. Friday. Her mother, Latice Sutton, said she called the station to post bail for her daughter but an officer told her Mitrice had already been released.

Richardson has not been seen since. Her father Michael Richardson is questioning why the sheriff’s department released her when she may have still been intoxicated and had not arranged for a ride. "They allowed her to walk out of that facility and down that road in the pitch black night," he said. "That's not right. Now, I just want to find my child."

Richardson’s parents appeared on the Today Show this morning to bring attention to the case. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the LAPD’s Missing Persons Unit at (213) 485-5381 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7.

Richardson is 5 feet 5 inches, about 135 pounds, has brown curly hair, tattoos on her lower abdomen and behind her neck and was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.
