Los Angeles star guard Kobe Bryant received a one-game suspension from the NBA for hitting San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Manu Ginobili in the face on Sunday.
Bryant has contended that the elbow was unintentional and said he was “shocked” by the leagues decision to make him sit a game. After learning of the suspension Bryant said, "I'm blown away by it. It makes no sense.”
The hit came with just seconds left in the Spurs 96-94 come-from-behind win in LA.
Kobe will miss the Lakers game against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. LA is beginning an eight-game round trip tonight at Madison Square Garden.
