Thanks to her appearance on Survivor: Philipines, Lisa Whelchel’s acting career is taking off again! The former child star of The Facts of Life has landed her first acting gig in 12 years. She will play a school principal in Tyler Perry’s comedy A Madea Christmas.
"I play the role of Nancy Porter, the country school principal. I'm having fun!" Whelchel tells People magazine.
"Tyler Perry is such a brilliant man," she adds. "He's a nice guy, and so funny when he gets in his Madea garb."
Whelchel, who recently served as a guest host on several episodes of Jeff Probst’s talk show, can be seen next hosting the TV Guide Survivor special.
After the season finale of Survivor: Philipines last year, Whelchel admitted the reality show had provided her with numerous acting opportunities. "I'd host. I'd do a sitcom. Really, I've got a lot opportunities,” she said.
