Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) fell 35 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $21.76.
Consol Energy (NYSE: CNX) fell $1.02 or 2.2 percent, to $44.36.
Massey Energy (NYSE: MEE) fell $1.10 or 3.8 percent, to $28.08.
Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) fell 52 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $36.91.
