New Methamphetamine Addiction Treatment Promising
New Sauna Detoxification Program Helps Relieve Methamphetamine Cravings
Methamphetamine is a white, odorless, bitter-tasting crystalline powder that easily dissolves in water or alcohol and is taken orally, intra-nasally (snorting the powder), by needle injection, or by smoking.
Why is methamphetamine use considered to be so destructive?
“Methamphetamine is a drug that has an extremely high potential for addiction,” comments Mary Rieser, Executive Director for the Atlanta Recovery Center. “Many users report such a high level of euphoria in that first ‘hit’ that they continue using it to try to re-create that first ‘high’.
Soon they are physically and mentally addicted.
Taking even small amounts of methamphetamine can result in many of the same physical effects of other stimulants, such as cocaine or amphetamines, including increased wakefulness, increased physical activity, decreased appetite, increased respiration, rapid heart rate, irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure, and hyperthermia.
Long-term methamphetamine abuse has many negative health consequences, including extreme weight loss, severe dental problems (“meth mouth”), anxiety, confusion, insomnia, mood disturbances, and violent behavior. Chronic methamphetamine abusers can also display a number of psychotic features, including paranoia, visual and auditory hallucinations, and delusions (for example, the sensation of insects crawling under the skin).
Unfortunately, methamphetamine addiction treatment has been very difficult until now.
“The main problem is the fact that methamphetamine has many chemicals used to manufacture it,” comments Ms. Rieser. “While drugs and their metabolites quickly become undetectable in blood and urine, some as rapidly as 3 days after last usage, drug metabolites remain stored in fatty tissues for years. The accumulated drug residues which continue to cause drug cravings, a factor in relapse, led researchers to develop a program aimed at reducing levels of toxins in the body to assist in recovery.”
The New Life Detoxification Program is an exact regimen of exercise, dry-heat sauna, and nutritional supplements that rid the fatty tissues in the body of drug residues and other accumulated toxins. The end result finds the client with increased mental acuity, higher energy levels, greater cognitive and awareness levels, an increased sense of general well-being, and the elimination of the bio-physical drug craving.
Reports from former methamphetamine addicts have been ecstatic.
Jane, a former addict who had tried to quite methamphetamine many times, states: “Before I did the New Life Detoxification Program, I was able to quite methamphetamine, sometimes for months. But I would suddenly get cravings, and relapse. Now that I have finished this step, I feel healthy, happy, and alive! I was able to focus on other factors that lead to my recovery and know I will be to remain clean and drug-free.”
