Just one day after U.S. President Barack Obama accused Iran of building a secret nuclear facility that could be used to develop nuclear weapons the country’s nuclear chief has announced they will allow UN inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency into the plant.
Iran has denied that the nuclear facility was a secret, saying they informed the IAEA that they had begun construction on the plant yet Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said the new revelation was further evidence that Iran was trying to develop nuclear weapons.
Israel has long contended that Iran’s nuclear ambitions are a threat to their national security. Iran has insisted that their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
