College Football Scores: Unranked Iowa Hawkeyes Stun #5 Penn State Nittany Lions with Fourth Quarter Surge

Adam Robinson rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown, Adrian Clayborn collected a blocked punt and returned it 53 yards for a TD and the unranked Iowa Hawkeyes picked off Daryll Clark three times in a stunning 21-10 victory over the #5 Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday.

Things looked bright for the Nittany Lions early as Clark hit Chaz Powell on a 79-yard touchdown pass two minutes into the game for a 7-0 lead and Collin Wagner added a 27-yard field goal in the closing minute to give Penn State a 10-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

While Iowa’s offense wasn’t doing much their defense stepped it up and put their first points on the game with a safety. The Hawkeyes were able to tack on a 41-yard field goal from Daniel Murray and went into the half trailing 10-5.

After a scoreless third quarter the Hawkeyes used their special teams to turn the tide of the game as a blocked punt turned into a 53-yard touchdown return from Adrian Clayborn and Iowa had its first lead of the game at 11-10. Following a Clark interception Adam Robinson boosted the Hawkeyes advantage to 18-10 with a 13-yard touchdown run. The Nittany Lions looked like they would respond on their next possession but a fumble from Evan Royster ended those hopes. Penn State would have another shot at tying the game but Clark was picked off for the second time in the quarter and that would lead to a Daniel Murray 31-yard field goal with 8 seconds to cap the upset.
