NFL News: Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington to Miss Remainder of Season

The Miami Dolphins season has gone from bad to worse after learning that starting quarterback Chad Pennington will likely miss the remainder of the season due to a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder, an injury he suffered in the team’s 23-13 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Pennington was hit by Chargers linebacker Kevin Burnett early in the third quarter and was forced out of the game.  Backup Chad Henne came on for Pennington and went 10-19 for 92 yards and an interception.

With the loss on Sunday the Dolphins dropped to 0-3 on the year and face an uphill battle to try and reach the playoffs for the second straight season.

While the Dolphins expect Pennington to miss the remainder of the season he will get a second opinion from orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews, the same doctor who performed a pair of shoulder surgeries for the quarterback in 2005.
