All Proceeds from Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat Championship Festival will Benefit 3 Florida Marine Charities

Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat Championship Festival has designated 3 local marine charities, dedicated to enhancing others’ lives through marine activities, to benefit from all the proceeds: the Clearwater Community Sailing Center, Sailability and Make a Difference Fishing Tournament.

It’s no secret that the water and the seaside have been touted as the healing elixir for centuries, so it comes as no surprise that the race organizers of Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat Championship Festival found it only fitting to designate 3 local marine charities to benefit by the festival.  The Clearwater Community Sailing Center, Sailability and Make a Difference Fishing Tournament and are the local charities designated to benefit by all the proceeds at Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat Championship Festival.  In addition, on Saturday October 3rd, from 8am-Noon at Pier 60, the childrens’ Make a Difference Fishing Tournament will be held as part of the festival activities.

·         The Clearwater Community Sailing Center is dedicated to providing safe, enriching and affordable sailing opportunities to local residents and visitors, including youth, seniors and the disabled for the enjoyment and benefit of the entire community;

·         Sailability Greater Tampa Bay's mission is to provide affordable, accessible, sailing activities and education to children and adults of all abilities, focusing on community integration to improve the quality of life for all involved.

And

·         Make A Difference Fishing Tournament is dedicated to helping handicapped children through fishing tournaments and other programs that facilitate the involvement of handicapped children in marine education and recreation;

 “It’s all about seeing the smiles on their faces,” said Frank Chivas, restaurateur and founder of Bay Star Restaurant Group, who is also one of the sponsors of the event.

About Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat National Championship Festival:

When Super Boat International (SBI) founder and 30-year veteran, John Carbonell, wanted to produce Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat National Championship Festival two local area businessmen made it happen: Restaurateur Frank Chivas and Former Mayor of Clearwater Brian Aungst Sr.

Carbonell has been producing the World Championship Races in Key West every year for 3 decades as well as the races in Sarasota held every 4th of July.  Now Clearwater, the next “new great location” will have something Key West doesn’t have…the absence of cruise ships obstructing the race sight lines.  “It’s a great time of year to support the tourism industry,” says Aungst. “[SBI] needed another spot and Clearwater Beach is one of the prettiest beaches in the world.”

Clearwater’s 1st Annual Super Boat National Championship Festival will be produced by Super Boat International and presented by Brighthouse Networks.  To see the full list of sponsors, partners and sponsor hotels, visit www.clearwatersuperboat.com
