College Football News: USC Trojans Running Back Stafon Johnson has Emergency Surgery after Dropping Weight Bar on Throat

Stafon Johnson, USC’s team leader in touchdowns and second leading rusher, had emergency surgery on Monday afternoon after a weight bar slipped from his hands and landed on his throat.

Johnson was being spotted while doing bench presses when the accident occurred. Immediately after the incident the 5-foot-11, 220-pound senior began coughing up blood and was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

The extents of Johnson’s injuries have not been released but he remains doubtful for the Trojans game against in-state rival California on Saturday.
