College Football News: USC Trojans Tailback Stafon Johnson Likely Done for the Season

USC Trojans tailback Stafon Johnson will likely miss the rest of the college football season after undergoing seven-hours of surgery following a freak accident in the team’s weight room on Monday.

Johnson was bench-pressing 275-pounds when the weight bar slipped from his hands and landed directly on his throat, causing massive damage to his neck and larynx. The 5-foot11, 220-pound senior immediately began coughing up blood and was rushed to California Hospital Medical Center.

According to an ESPN report Johnson needed a tracheotomy to help him breathe.

While doctors said the surgery was a success and Johnson would make a full recovery it is unlikely that he would be able to return to the Trojans backfield this year.
