On January 24, obstacle course races organization Spartan Race reviews top blog posts in 2012 in their Spartan Blog and offers a daily newsletter that delivers top fitness and meal tips by Spartan coaches and participants to help Spartans prepare for races or assist non-Spartans in leading healthier lifestyles.
In the blog entry titled “Top Blog Posts 2012: Training and Nutrition Matters,” Carrie Adams reviews major blog posts in 2012 centered on fitness and maintaining a healthy diet. “Spartans commit to a healthy way of living and it was clear that our community was paying attention and getting it done,” Adams writes.
Adams includes training tips by Spartan Coach manager Jeff Godin, Ph.D. CSCS and pre-race meal tips by Spartan Champion Rose-Marie Jarry in the Spartan Blog. Dr. Godin reminds everyone to warm up before working out. Adams writes, “The benefits of a warm-up include; increased tissue temperature, tissue compliance, energy metabolism, movement efficiency and reduced tissue stiffness.” Additionally, Jarry includes her recipe for a “pre-race trio” in the blog “Eat to Live: Spartan Performance Nutrition.”
Spartan Race founder Joe Desena is excited for 2013 races and says, “We’re proud to share our Spartan knowledge with everyone who is eager to get in shape and lead healthier lives.” He adds, “At Spartan Race, we provide numerous resources to prepare Spartans for races and for anyone looking to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle.”
