AS Roma to Build English style soccer stadium

AS Roma plans to build an English style soccer stadium. The stadium will be the new home for the soccer club. Roma and Lazio currently share the Stadio Olimpico. Their plans are to build their own 55,000 seat stadium to increase revenue.

Stadio Olimpico has a running track which keeps fans at a distance from the field. Claudio Ranieri is looking forward to being able to bring the players dugouts much closer to the fans.

Italian soccer suffers from a hooligan problem which is one reason fans are rarely close to players. A crackdown at Fiorentina stadium has cut down the violent incidents and the barriers in the away section may soon be removed.
